Program Information

May 20, 2024

The Shepherd’s Care Foundation reward system is in place to encourage employees to report injuries, illnesses, near misses, or hazards, and participate in a modified work program; while also supporting their involvement in the organization’s overall health and safety program. The intent of the health and safety point incentive rewards program is to award employees for safe behaviors in the workplace.

The Safety Comes First point incentive program is optional, and anyone can opt-out of it anytime.

The point incentive rewards program is not to deter employees from reporting injuries; but to encourage early reporting. If you get injured at work, SCF is here in making sure you return to work safely. It is very important that all employees report an injury/injuries as quickly as possible to your manager or supervisor. Failure to report injuries or not following the proper channel of reporting injuries as per Shepherd’s Care Foundation policy will result in immediate withdrawal from program and loss of accumulated points; leading to a potential disciplinary action.

The point incentive rewards program is in place to promote our established modified work program. The modified work program is a proactive approach that can prevent unnecessary time loss* and increased claims costs. Temporary modified duties can provide suitable, appropriate and meaningful work during your medically coordinated or recovery process and offered in a wide variety of ways.

*Unnecessary time loss means when an employee experiences a work-related injury, the employee can continue working without losing time from work beyond the day of injury and does not have a permanent disability resulting from that work injury.
